Ingredients

  • 2 lbs beef preferably flank steak or sirloin tip, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1-2 teaspoons red chili flakes adjust to taste
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika

Method

  1. Prepare the Marinade: In a bowl, combine soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, apple cider vinegar, onion powder, black pepper, red chili flakes, and smoked paprika. Whisk until well combined.
  2. Marinate the Beef: Place the beef slices in a large resealable bag. Pour the marinade over the beef, ensuring all pieces are well-coated. Seal the bag and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
  3. Dry the Beef: Preheat your oven to 175°F (80°C). Remove the beef from the marinade and pat dry with paper towels. Arrange the beef slices in a single layer on a wire rack placed over a baking sheet.
  4. Bake the Jerky: Place the rack in the oven and bake for 3-4 hours, or until the beef reaches your desired level of dryness.
  5. Cool and Store: Allow the jerky to cool completely. Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place for up to 2 weeks.
